Why Wearing SPF Daily is Non‑Negotiable for Skin Health

Sensible Sun Protection

Most people think of the sun as our enemy, but that is just not true! So many people avoid the sun completely, which can lead to all sorts of health issues.

Sunlight is essential for a balanced mood, strong bones, a healthy immune system and healthy cell behaviour.

When UVB rays reach the skin, they trigger a process in our body to produce Vitamin D – often called the “Sunshine Vitamin”

UVA vs UVB: The Rays you need to know about

Most people think that about applying sunscreen in the summer to protect themselves from burning, but what they don’t realise is that the UVA Rays are present all year round.

UVA rays are longer waves and can penetrate deeper into the skin to create long-term damage (ageing). Did you know that UVA rays can penetrate through glass – think about the exposure you are receiving all year round without realising it - while driving your car, sitting by the office window or in your home!

Here are the differences between UVA and UVB Rays.

UVB rays (Burning Rays) reach the bottom layer of our epidermis (the topmost layer of the skin) and can cause sunburn and DNA damage.

UVA Ray (Ageing Ray) Penetrates even deeper than the UVB Ray,it travels through the epidermis into the dermis (the middle section of the skin) where our collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid are produced. This constant exposure doesn’t burn but leaves our skin eventually looking less healthy, it becomes thinner, with less bounce and cushioning, deeper lines and visible wrinkles form, and skin becomes dull and dehydrated.

Did you know that 80-90% of ageing is due to UV Damage?

Introducing Environ Active SPF20 — Skin First Suncare Formulation Redefining UV Protection

If you’ve struggled with SPF’s in the past, this formula is a true game-changer!

RAD SPF Meaning = (R) Reflect, (A) Absorb, and (D) Defend

RAD ACTIVE is formulated with an intelligent triple filter combination of UVA and UVB filters and antioxidants to reflect, absorb and neutralise damaging rays and has been clinically validated with white papers to show it will protect and defend skin from sun damage and reduce unnecessary chemical load absorbing into the bloodstream.

Because the formula is also sweat-resistant, you will love it while exercising or swimming, as it doesn’t run into your eyes!

Vitamins A, C, and E neutralise free radicals, making this SPF so comfortable and lightweight to wear – no sticky or greasy feeling at all - and it is easy to apply make-up directly on top if you wish.

It can also be safely used on little ones 6 months and older.

The Bottom Line

Sunscreen isn’t just for summer and at the beach. It’s a daily, lifelong habit that protects skin from sun damage, which can ultimately lead to skin cancer; it prevents premature ageing and supports overall skin health. If you haven’t already, now is the time to start with your skin health insurance. Your skin will thank you in years to come!
